ain't it good to know you've got a friend
My friend Chrissy enjoys getting her picture taken about as much as I do, but I did manage to find this one of the two of us. Chrissy has a blog, so one day several months ago, I subtly mentioned to her that my sister's friend had written about my sister in her blog, and what a nice tribute it was, and I wondered how it would feel to have someone do something so thoughtful. Funny thing, after that conversation she wrote about me. Because that's the kind of friend Chrissy is. And turnabout is fair play. I've known Chrissy since we were about three years old, which means we've been friends for about 25 years now. ;) Seriously, how often do you know someone for that long and not only share all kinds of memories but still enjoy them so much? Church, high school, college roommates, roadtrips, holidays, her wedding, the Bachelorettes in Alaska finale-we've been together through it all. Chrissy has been so good to me through my best and my worst. She has all the qualities that are important in a friend: kind, patient, forgiving, down to earth, good listener, and fun. When I call with my dating (or non-dating) woes or other whining and complaining, she is unfailingly supportive and on my side even when it's likely that I'm completely wrong. That feels pretty darn good. She is one of the funniest people I know. She married another one of the funniest people I know. When I call their house I know that I'm going to be laughing a lot no matter which one answers. (And if it's Matt, I'm also going to get some inappropriate advice on how to get married. At this point I probably ought to take it.) We like to imagine things like our moms getting jobs at Hot Dog on a Stick and if we got tattoos what they would say. She is so smart, a great cook, leads at church, sews, is musical, knows how to add backgrounds and cool extras to her blog, is not afraid to admit her love of Saved by the Bell, does excellent imitations, has a scarily good memory, and raises three adorable kids. Chrissy, "you are loved," too.

oh my, you two sure have aged! I remember you both better looking, but I know its been awhile!
I agree, Chrissy is a wonderful friend. I met you both during the summer before 6th grade! I have fond memories of our HB days!!
love you both!
I clearly remember the day I learned FoxySpinster, I mean, Kristen and Chrissy were best of friends. A certain Sister Lockhart, from the stake, kindly (and inadvertently) lent me her prized "hat ring" collection. They were a big hit at the stake service project!
Turns out I didn't quite return said hat rings as promised.
After several phone calls and email "inquiries"(of which, btw, I have record), Chrissy finally sent her “friend Kristen” to “inquire” as to the general well being of her precious rings. After hearing my vague recollection regarding there whereabouts and a flippant "maybe my car?" reply, Kristen proceeded to promptly (and sweetly) escort me to the parking lot to "help me look". She patiently waited next to my automobile as I frantically dug through my trunk, desperate to locate these very important items. As I handed them over, piece-by-piece, she carefully and almost reverently inventoried each ring and hook. Confident she had everything; she quickly thanked me and turned to go. I noticed earlier, a far off look in her eye and fortunately during her dismissal, our eyes again met, and in that instant I caught a glimpse of truth! I realized she wasn’t trying to get AWAY from me, but rather, she was eager to safely return these confiscated items to their rightful owner. In that moment, I understood the gravity of her mission. While she drove off into the sunset, I dared to hope against hope, that someday, somehow, I would be lucky enough to find a friend so loyal as Chrissies friend Kristen"! The end.
I was just glad that I didn't have to make a citizen's arrest. And look at us now! I'd retrieve anything for YOU, too.
Wow! That Chrissy sounds pretty wonderful!
Roseann - I forgot about those rings!! I love that story - Kristen is my protector. BTW, Sister Lockhart is my mother-in-law and makes me sound old(er).
Kristen - you are the cutest and I am sorry I didn't see this earlier in the week! I am reading it while I am on the phone with a sister from the ward and trying hard not to laugh and make her feel bad!
You are awesome and I love you!!
That is so great!! Sooo, am I Phoebe?? Love you guys! Smooch!
Phoebe! Perfect! Can't wait to get together on the 9th!
